We must tell you first of all about our beautiful campsite at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. It took two trips around the campground to find that "perfect spot". Not only did it have to fit our fairly large trailer (almost 30 feet long!), but it also had to be next to the Big Sur River that weaves through the campground. We finally settled into a great spot that fit our needs perfectly, plus it was away from the other sites, giving us that feeling of privacy. (Actually, nearly all the campsites offered plenty of privacy, but ours was pretty secluded.) There were beautiful redwood trees everywhere you looked. We were really surprised on the temperature while we were there - it was actually hot (80 degrees) considering we were near the Central California coast. No reason to pull out those coats we brought along!
While we were there we took advantage of our backyard "creek." Karlie would pick up sticks and pretend she was fishing. Mommy and Daddy just enjoyed the sound of the water and watching the girls play.
One day we took a short drive down to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, located about 20 miles south of our campground along Highway One. The views along Highway One were simply amazing. The coastline and secluded beaches along this stretch of highway are pristine, with very little public access.

As we headed home after our wonderful vacation, we stopped to watch and photograph a huge herd of Elephant Seals laying on the beach just off Highway One. All of us, especially Karlie, got a kick out of that experience. She would laugh hysterically whenever the seals would "talk" (which sounded like a loud belch).
