Over Memorial Day week, we decided to take a week off and try out a couple new campgrounds. Our journey started at Casa de Fruta in Hollister, about an hour west of Monterey. This campground has a lot to offer, including a petting zoo, a train, and various playgrounds spread throughout the grounds. While most of the campsites are completely paved with no grass or trees, we lucked out by getting a shady spot next to the grassy common area. We got very spoiled having a couple restaurants to choose from very close by, plus the farmer's market with the best strawberries.
We spent some time at the petting zoo. Karlie was perfectly happy looking at the animals if she had the fence to separate her from them. Daddy tried introducing her to a cow and several goats, but Karlie wanted little to do with touching them. She braved one or two pats on their head, but that was about it.
After a few days in Hollister, we drove to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, which was truly beautiful. Read on...
