LAS VEGAS, NV

April at Hoover Dam
April looking over the Hoover Dam - one of the seven engineering wonders of the world.

April took John to Las Vegas for his 45th birthday.  This was our second trip in as many years.  We aren't into gambling, but we love the sights and excitement it has to offer - the decor of the casinos is simply amazing.  The newer hotels are very classy -- not the flash and glitz you may remember if you traveled to Vegas many years ago.

We had hoped to catch one of the big shows like Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance or Lance Burton's magic show, but we went during a slow period (right after Thanksgiving), so they didn't have any performances when we were there.  Next time we'll plan a little better.  We stayed at the Paris-Las Vegas, which is a beautiful hotel with great restaurants.  It has a remake of the Eiffel Tower, so we had to take a ride up and look down on the Strip.  As you can see above, we did make a trip to Hoover Dam, which was simply awesome.  If you ever get out that way, don't miss it.

Our Room at the Paris Las Vegas

Our room at the Paris-Las Vegas hotel -- we got a petite suite, which should ask for if you go (no extra charge for this larger room)
